M3R Program
The M3R Program represents the highest level of engine build and transaxle build engineering offered by M3P for the McLaren platform. Developed without compromise, the M3R is designed for customers seeking the ultimate expression of the M838T/M840T powertrain while maintaining the refinement, drivability, and engineering integration expected from a complete vehicle package. Building upon the proven foundation established by the M1R and M2R engine builds, the M3R transforms the platform into a fully realized extreme-performance system capable of producing approximately 1,000HP and 800TQ on premium unleaded fuel. When paired with race calibration and race fuel, output increases to an extraordinary 1,700HP and 1,150TQ.
Build Process
Every M3R engine build begins with a comprehensive vehicle detail and multi-point inspection before the engine and transmission are carefully removed by M3P's highly trained technicians. The powertrain is then completely disassembled and meticulously inspected by our engine shop, where it receives M3P's highest-specification internal upgrades including CP-Carrillo billet steel connecting rods, forged aluminum CP-Carrillo pistons, CNC-ported cylinder heads, and a series of proprietary reinforcement and airflow enhancements engineered to withstand extreme cylinder pressures and sustained operation at unprecedented power levels.
Once assembly is complete, the powertrain is reinstalled and paired with M3P's most advanced in-house engineered turbo system to date. The M3R engine build features next-generation turbocharger technology, proprietary dual-pass air-to-water intercoolers with advanced internal surface features integrated into their 3D-printed AL6061 end tanks, a fully 3D-printed Inconel exhaust system, and a high-flow aluminum intake manifold engineered specifically for maximum airflow efficiency and thermal stability under extreme operating conditions.
Every component has been developed utilizing advanced CAD modeling, high-resolution 3D scan data, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to maximize packaging efficiency, airflow characteristics, thermal management, and structural durability. Extensive real-world validation and endurance testing have resulted in what we believe is the most advanced and capable McLaren engine build and transaxle build package available anywhere in the world.
To withstand the immense torque loads generated by the M3R platform, the transaxle build receives M3P's highest level of reinforcement and structural upgrades, including billet AL6061 differential and rear gearbox covers engineered to significantly improve rigidity and drivetrain stability under extreme acceleration and load conditions. Every transmission build component is matched to the engine build's output to keep power delivery consistent under sustained high-load use.
Fuel delivery requirements at this power level demanded a complete reengineering of the factory system. The M3R fuel system utilizes a fully integrated multi-pump configuration with custom fuel pump hangers, upgraded fuel delivery architecture, and a proprietary fuel tank solution engineered specifically to maintain consistent fuel supply during high-load operation and extreme acceleration.
The M3R package is completed with proprietary ECU and TCU calibrations developed specifically for the selected fuel configuration and power level, ensuring seamless drivability, optimized performance delivery, and advanced system control.
Every M3R engine build and transaxle build completed by M3P is backed by a 2-year/24,000-mile limited powertrain warranty (whichever occurs first; restrictions apply).

The M3R was engineered as an integrated 1,700 HP vehicle, not an engine with oversized turbochargers attached to it. Achieving this level of performance requires the engine, turbo system, fuel system, cooling, thermal management, transmission, driveline, electronics, traction control, and calibration to operate together.
Every system has been developed around the demands created by the next. That's why the M3R incorporates extensive engine and cylinder-head preparation, EFR9174 turbochargers, advanced fuel delivery, reinforced driveline components, and sophisticated vehicle control strategies. The horsepower figure is the result of the engineering—not the engineering goal by itself.
Our performance packages deliver significant power increases: M1R up to 1400HP, M2R up to 1550HP, and M3R up to 1700HP. Each package includes full engine and transaxle builds, custom 3D printed parts, Syvecs ECU with map switching, and comprehensive TCU/CCU tuning.
Making 1,700 HP is one challenge. Getting a rear-wheel-drive McLaren to effectively use it is another. Mega 3 Performance utilizes an extremely advanced traction-control and torque-management strategy that continuously analyzes individual wheel-speed relationships—not simply whether the rear tires are spinning.
Our strategy evaluates wheel speeds left-to-right, front-to-rear, and diagonally across the vehicle, allowing the control system to recognize traction events and manage engine torque with exceptional precision. The result is controlled power delivery designed to maximize acceleration rather than simply cutting power whenever wheelspin occurs.
At M3R power levels, the transaxle and driveline must be engineered with the same attention as the engine. The package combines an upgraded clutch system with Mega 3 Performance billet axles, billet LSD differential, billet differential cover, reinforced gearbox components, and precision ring-and-pinion setup.
These upgrades address the enormous sustained and instantaneous loads created by 1,150 lb-ft of torque, particularly during launches and aggressive acceleration. Combined with our transmission calibration and torque-management strategies, the objective is not simply strengthening individual parts—it is creating a driveline engineered to function as a complete system at extreme power levels.
The M3R's fuel system is engineered around delivering consistent fuel volume and pressure under conditions far beyond the capabilities of the factory system. It incorporates a quad-pump fuel system, billet surge tank, upgraded fuel rails, high-flow injectors, and dedicated fuel-pressure monitoring to support the demands of the M3R engine.
The surge-tank architecture also helps maintain a consistent fuel supply during hard acceleration and other high-load conditions. At this level, fueling isn't simply about installing larger injectors or pumps—it requires engineering sufficient capacity, pressure stability, and monitoring into the complete system.
Absolutely! We provide a comprehensive 2-year/24,000-mile limited powertrain warranty with all our builds. Our confidence in the quality and reliability of our work allows us to offer warranty coverage that exceeds what any other McLaren tuning specialist provides.
We maintain inventory of our engine and M3P driveline parts, which enables us to complete McLaren builds within 3-4 months. This timeline could be subject to change based on volume increases, which would be clearly disclosed at the time of build slot reservation.
All of our calibrations are written and developed in-house and not outsourced. Our calibrator is owner/engineer Safa, who has been tuning for 15 years and is currently the only person in the world to unlock full control of the McLaren TCU. Safa's expertise extends to developing calibrations for the TCU and CPC controller for Mercedes platforms, plus ECU and TCU tuning for many of today's popular high performance European cars.
All our M3P transmission and driveline parts are designed, engineered, and manufactured in the USA. We have invested heavily in our driveline offering to ensure maximum reliability and performance for high-horsepower McLaren applications.
