McLaren's hybrid hypercar, the P1, pairs the M838TQ 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 with an IPAS electric motor for a combined 903 HP. The M838TQ is a race-derived engine variant with upgraded internals compared to the standard M838T, designed to support higher boost pressures and more aggressive tuning from the factory. Yet even McLaren's factory calibration for the P1 maintains conservative margins to ensure reliability across all global operating conditions.
Our Stage 1 calibration for the 2014 P1 unlocks +90 HP and +100 TQ from the internal combustion engine, pushing combined system output to approximately 993 HP. We optimize the M838TQ's boost pressure maps, advance ignition timing where the factory holds back, and refine the fuel injection strategy for 93 octane fuel. The calibration works in harmony with the P1's hybrid system, the electric motor continues to provide seamless torque-fill, but now with a more powerful ICE behind it. The result is a P1 that accelerates with even more conviction and delivers a driving experience worthy of its hypercar status. ECU map switching and antilag available.
