In-House Powertrain Calibration
With 710 HP and 568 ft-lbs from the M840T 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, the 2021 McLaren 720S is already one of the fastest cars on the road. But the factory ECU calibration's conservative approach to boost pressure and ignition timing means there is still meaningful performance waiting to be unlocked, particularly in the mid-range between 4,000 and 6,500 RPM where the factory tune holds back the most.
Stage 1 adds +125 HP and +115 TQ for a total of approximately 835 HP and 683 ft-lbs. Our calibration optimizes boost pressure targets to deliver higher sustained output through the power band, advances ignition timing for 93 octane fuel, and refines the throttle response for a more connected, immediate feel. The 2021 720S responds to these changes with a level of acceleration that closes the gap to McLaren's own Senna. Stage 2 unlocks 875 HP and 728 TQ, placing the 720S firmly in the hypercar performance bracket. Our in-house antilag system provides aggressive turbo response for track use, while ECU map switching allows seamless return to stock calibration.
